Brother Moses Darden Obituary

Pastor Moses H. Darden, known to friends as “Bum Darden” to his brothers and sisters in Christ as “Brother Darden”.

He was born on February 4th, 1926 in Sampson County to the late Nan Darden and Les Troublefield. He received his heavenly wings on Sunday, March 25th, 2018 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, NC at the age of 92.

Pastor Darden attended Sampson County Schools. He was employed as a truck driver for Keener Lumber Company for over thirty years.

He was united in marriage for fifty one years to the late Mother Annie Ruth Darden.

In 1968 he began his walk with the Lord. He has touched so many people’s lives, going from county to city’s praying for others, teaching and preaching the word of God, showing love for others as well as his family.

Pastor Darden was the founding pastor of The House of Prayer of Dudley, which was established October 23rd, 1979. The Lord blessed Pastor Darden and the church family to move into its new sanctuary on August 26th, 1990. He remained faithful and dedicated to The House of Prayer church family for over thirty nine years. He held fast to his faith and the word of God.

Pastor Darden was united in matrimony to Margie Lorraine Darden of the home, for the past ten years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Gracie L. Faison and brothers Roosevelt Darden, Charles Darden and Williams Darden.

In addition to his spouse he is survived by his sons Moses Darnell Darden (Maxine) of Goldsboro, NC and Michael Odom (Bea) of Mt. Olive, NC; daughters Larrie Swinson of Lagrange, NC, Barbara Swinson of Goldsboro, NC, Mary A. Langston (James) of Goldsboro, NC, and Mary Bennett of Newton Grove, NC; stepdaughters Angela Ward of Goldsboro, NC, Marlene Little of Greenville, NC and Lonice Williams of Suffolk VA.

Pastor Darden was blessed with eight grandchildren including Jeffery George. Jeffery became the primary caregiver for his granddad. He cared for him faithfully and with love until Pastor Darden demise.

His other grandchildren are TeTasha George of Goldsboro, NC, LaDonna George of Warsaw, NC, LaTisha Williams of Raleigh, NC, Ashley Mabry of Goldsboro, NC, Sonya Faison of Dudley, NC, Craig Faison of Goldsboro, NC and Derrick Faison also of Goldsboro, NC.

Pastor Darden’s  precious memories will also be cherished by his twenty three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a very special niece TaTa and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.
