Mattie Jean Parson

Mattie Jean Foster Parson was born January 18, 1951 in Lenoir County to the late Jack Foster and Reba Mae Dawson Foster. She attended Lenoir County Public Schools. Mattie later moved to New Jersey where she was employed by several jobs. After living in New Jersey for many years, Mattie felt the need to return home.

Mattie Jean joined Rockford Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where she was faithful. It was nothing to see Mattie Jean coming into sanctuary with her walker and a smile on her face, telling the members of how she had been in  and out of the hospital and to keep her in prayer.

Mattie Jean was preceded in death by her father Jack Foster, mother Reba Mae Dawson Foster, daughter Sandra Foster Ashford, sister Linda Artis and brothers Charlie Monroe and John D. Foster.

She leaves to cherish her memories her memories her companion, James Holt, of the home, a son Willie Parson, Jr., sisters Jessie Louise Sharpe and Percilla “Geraldine” Smith of Goldsboro, NC; brothers John Junior Foster of Mt. Olive, N.C. and Joseph “Joe” Foster  (Wanda) of Winston Salem, N.C.; son in law Thomas Ashford and a special son with whom she adopted as a son Robert Artis.
