Elizabeth Howell Ford

Elizabeth Howell Ford was born on May 1, 1923 in Wayne County, North Carolina to the late Joshua and Hattie Raynor Howell. She was the fourth of eight children. Six siblings preceded her in death: Molden, Joshua II, Fannie, Sarah, Erselene and Evelyn.

Elizabeth quietly and peacefully transitioned from a physical life of labor to rewards on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Wayne UNC Healthcare, Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Elizabeth was educated in the Wayne County Public Schools. She married the love of her life, the late Charlie Edward Ford, Sr. who passed on January 1, 1969. While living in the Cherry Hospital Community she accepted a job at Cherry Hospital as a Health Care Technician and continued employment for 32 years, retiring in 1983. She was a past member of the State Retirees Organization.

Elizabeth joined Barnes Chapel MB Church where she sang in the choir and was on the Mother Board. She loved singing and led several songs for the choir. One of her favorite songs was “I am Redeemed.” She was active until her health declined.

Elizabeth loved fashion and dressing. She also loved her family and her grandchildren affectionately called her Grandarling.

To cherish her memories she leaves four loving and devoted children: Jimmie Ford (Priscilla) of Goldsboro, NC, Bernadette F. Reese of Goldsboro, NC, Gloria F. Miller of Dudley, NC, and Charlie Ford, Jr. (Althea) of Mobile, AL; a special nephew Josh Howell III of California; Sister Rogerlene H. Bryant of Goldsboro, NC; eleven grandchildren Torrette Williams (Earl), Rita Barnes (Ralph), Monica Farrer (Larry), Donna Roderick (Lucious), Christopher Ford, Lashonna Frederick (Jeffrey), Markeith Smith (Rhonda), Dewayne Miller (Monica), Marques Ford, Katherine Ford, Robin Booth (Cedric); sixteen Great Grandchildren, one Great Great Grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and the Barnes Chapel Church Family. Mrs. Ford also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved dog "Snickers".
