Jonas Brown was born May 11, 1927 to the late Roscoe Brown and Carolina Mills in Pollocksville, NC.
Jonas attended and graduated the Jones County School System and in November of 1946 joined the United States Army. He served as a Rifleman at Ft. Bening, GA and at Fort Bragg, NC. Upon his Honorable Discharge from service, Jonas moved to Goldsboro, NC.
Jonas was a Goldsboro City Police Officer and a member of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. In his guest to always be better and to be the best Law Enforcement officer possible, he continued his education and received several certifications such as: Specialized Training in Civil Liability, Riot and Crowd Control Certification, lifetime membership in the NC State Law Enforcement Association, Hazardous Material Handling Certification, Speed gun and Doppler Radar Operation Specialists, NC State Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Training, and First Aid. Mr. Brown also graduated from the NC Justice Academy as a Supervisor and in 1971 received an Associate degree in Criminal Investigation Wilson County Technical Institute and 1972 graduate from Beaufort County Technical Institute with an Associate degree in Police Science. He was truly a man of Justice and Integrity.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife Pearley Brown; Marsha (Willie) Joyner; three daughters Mary Linda Campbell of Trenton, NC, Earlene King Barbee of Clayton, NC and Barbra Boone; two sons Billy (Cheryl) King of Wake Forest, NC and Hubert Earl (Cherelle) King, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
