Minister Julia Lee Lofton Boyette
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15
Julia Lee Lofton was born in Jones County on April 5, 1920, the daughter of the late William
Lofton and Hannah Murrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Robert Boyette
and four sons, Robert Jr., David, William and Leslie Ray Boyette.
During her life-time she was employed in the Factory and Domestic Industry.
Minister Boyette was known by her testimony, "I'm going to stay under the blood and the world
can't do me no harm." A member of Greater Guiding Star United Holy Church for over 65 years.
She faithfully served as a Minister of the Gospel, a member of Choir Number 2, Floral Club and
the Missionary Circle. Minister Boyette was very committed to the Noon Day Prayer when the
church was located on the North end of Goldsboro. She loved her church and was a strong
warrior.
Those left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are three daughters: Geraldine Boyette,
Joann Bizzell (Larry), Brenda Mallory (Robert); one stepson, Alfonzo Manley (Rebecca); two
sisters, Edna L. Hill and Mary E. Taylor; daughter in-law, Miriam Boyette; thirteen
grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren - a host of nieces,
nephews, and a special neighbor, Flora Taylor.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall
give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”
