As the first born, Lillie Bell Bishop's sunrise was August 21, 1925 to the late Deacon Arthur and Deaconess Queen Esther Brewton in Jackson County, Florida where she joined Little Zion Baptist Church at an early age. In 2005, she relocated to Goldsboro, NC to reside with her daughters. While in Goldsboro, she became a member of Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her death.

Her favorite things were cooking, baking homemade cakes, wearing her fancy hats and enjoying her fish and grits. Her favorite scripture which gave her great peace was John 3:16 (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whatsoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life).
