Shirley Mae Middleton Sauls , 73 of 707 South Madison Avenue quietly transitioned from labor to reward Friday, February 15, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
Shirley was the daughter of the late Connie and Lettie Middleton, but was lovingly reared by her stepmother, the late Fleeta Middleton. Shirley was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Ray Middleton.
Shirley attended Wayne County Public Schools and continued her education at Fayetteville State University. After college she moved to Washington, DC and was employed by the Federal Government as a secretary with Voices of America with 31 years of service. Shirley was affiliated with Rhema Church and Faith Bible Church during her stay in Washington, DC.
In 2000 Shirley relocated back to Goldsboro where she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Mr. Eddie Sauls. They were united in marriage on September 7, 2003.
Upon returning to Goldsboro, Shirley united with Christ Memorial Church Ministries under the direction of the late Apostle D.L.McIntyre and Pastor Diane McIntyre . Shirley loved the Lord and was a faithful member of CMC. She served as an ordained minister and church secretary. She served in the Choir and Praise Team Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Outreach Ministry, Intercessory Ministry and Kitchen Ministry. She was whole heartedly dedicated to the service of the Lord.
Shirley leaves to cherish wonderful memories her husband of 15 years, Eddie Sauls of the home; 9 siblings Elizabeth Reid of Largo, MD; Dorothy (Oliver) Kenner of Glenarden, MD; Earl (Leslie) Middleton of Chicago, IL; Genell Corbett of Burlington, NC; Wayne (Vera) Middleton of Fremont, NC; Connie Middleton of Garner, NC; Bobby (Shirley) Middleton, Clifton Middleton, Jerry (Eva) Middleton, Grace (Richard) Jacobs all of Goldsboro, NC; 3 stepchildren Nicole Shields of Goldsboro, NC; Eddie (Sherrie) Sauls of Des Moines, IA; Darlene (Mike) McIntyre of Philadelphia, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thanks to two special friends/caretakers Deborah Hutchins and Faye Langston; and a special niece Antoinette Williams Bass.
