Ronald Leon Swinson was born on November 29, 1955 in Goldsboro, NC. He was the son of the late Clarence David Swinson, Sr. and Mrs. Daisy McIntyre Swinson of Goldsboro, NC. Ronnie, as he was affectionately known, was the fourth youngest of eleven siblings. His younger sister, Cynthia Swinson, preceded him in death.
Ronnie grew up in Goldsboro, NC and graduated from Goldsboro High School. During the mid 1970’s, Ronnie was employed with Swinson Construction as a skilled brick mason - a construction company owned by his brother Charles. Later in life, Ronnie decided to pursue a career in cosmetology and enrolled in Leon’s Beauty School in Greensboro, NC. After completing cosmetology school, Ronnie became a successful business owner and operator of Ronald’s Beauty Salon in Goldsboro. He was a well sought-after hair stylist in the local area during the 1980’s specializing in the popular permed hairstyle “Jheri Curls”. During the next two decades, Ronnie decided to return to being a skilled brick mason and worked on several residential and commercial projects throughout the Goldsboro area. Ronnie was last employed with Walmart, Inc in Goldsboro as an assembler. He was a people person and extremely well-liked by his co-workers and customers. His personal interests included a love for fishing and basketball. Back in the day, you would often find Ronnie on the local basketball courts participating in pick-up games.
He leaves to cherish his daughters Whitney Figueredo (Miguel) of Portsmouth, Virginia; Ronique De Sa (Thiago) of Goldsboro, NC; and three grandsons Jaxon Swinson, Jordan and Jasen Figueredo.; Siblings Jean Thorpe, Chapel Hill NC; Clarence Swinson, Jr. (Rose), Antelope CA; Gloria Spears, Goldsboro NC; Charles Swinson (Wanda), Greensboro NC; Thaddeus Swinson (Karen), Souix Falls SD; Richard Swinson (Rena), Pikeville NC; Brenda Wooten (Hubert, Jr.), Goldsboro NC; Diane Turner (Stephen), Warner Robins GA; and Darryl Swinson (Sheilah), Goldsboro NC. Ronnie also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
