Arlene Cornelius Campbell Lambeth departed this life on July 28, 2024,
at her home in Clayton, NC. She was born May 17, 1942, in Newport News, VA to
Judge C. (deceased) and Almetta Campbell (deceased). She attended schools in
Newport News, VA and college in Santa Maria, CA. She was converted to
Christianity at the age of 12 in Newport News, VA where she attended
Wesley Grove Congregational Church (19 th Street, Newport News, VA)
under the pastorate of the late Rev TJ Moore.
In 1961, she married Douglas B. Lambeth. To this marriage, three children
were born. Being the wife of a military airman, she traveled to Massachusetts, Guam,
California, Maine, and Goldsboro, North Carolina, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base(A.F.B.)
While traveling in the military, she attended several military chapels.
From 1976-2014, she served faithfully at Seymour Johnson A.F.B. Chapel as a Sunday
Bible School teacher, Vacation Bible School (VBS) teacher, Protestant Women of the
Chapel (PWOC). Women Guild 3-D Leader (Diet, Discipline, & Discipleship).
After moving in with her daughter, Cheryl, in Clayton, NC, she attended
RCC/Radiant/Focus Church in Raleigh, NC from 2015 until her passing in July 2024.
Throughout her military travels, she worked in both schools and hospitals.
In the hospital, she was employed as a Nurse Aide. In schools, she was employed as
a Head Start Teacher, Lunch Supervisor, and Teacher’s Aide. She was employed by
the Wayne County Schools in Goldsboro, NC for 27 years. She retired in 2004.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Melissa Lambeth (Clayton, NC),
and Cassandra Rashida Lambeth Braxton (Hillsborough, NC); one sister,
Celestine Gaskin; one brother, Lawrence Edward Campbell; one Son-in-Law,
Adam Braxton; two grandsons Jackson Lambeth Braxton and Avery Elijah Braxton;
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her son,
Douglas Bernard Lambeth, Jr. (Bernie) (deceased).
Her motto in life was the 3-L’s: Learn to Learn, Learn to Live, Learn to Love.
