Catherine Mann Truitt was born March 23, 1921 in Wayne County, North Carolina; she passed on Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Brian Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Mrs. Truitt was preceded in death by her parents: Alonzo and Rosa (Benton) Mann, her husband, Paul Truitt and her eight siblings.
She spent many years working as a seamstress, making formal attire. When she moved to Goldsboro she worked with the PSC Community Services, Inc. Home Attendant Program.
Her later years she enjoyed being the Artis & Crafts Coordinator with the Sunday school and Vacation Bible School of Saint Joseph FWB Church, fondly known as “Mother Truitt” from 1999 to 2008 under the guidance of Elder Leslie Capers.
In 1972, she received her Doctrine of Divinity, Honorary Degree, and Dedication in Peace. In addition, an Activist received recognition from the National Committee to preserve Social Security and Medicare as a valued member. She loved to read her Bible and have lively conversations. She prayed for her loving family often. She enjoyed community events, traveling and dancing.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her great niece, nephews, cousins and a host of many more.
