Charles D. Howell Sr.

On November 23, 1940, God blessed Sammy and Viola Howell with two and a half pound bundle of joy. Charles was the youngest of three children. He was raised in the Little Washington section of Goldsboro. He graduated from Dillard High School Class of 1959.

Charles was employed as a Health Care Technician at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Moses Cone Hospital, Cherry Hospital and O’Berry Center. He retired from O’Berry Center in 2001 with 25 years of service. He returned to O’Berry and worked 2 years part time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Genevieve H. Hargrove and his only child Charles Duffy Howell, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife Ella Williams Howell; daughter in law Tracy Simms of Mt. Olive, NC; four grandchildren LaQuita Sims of Greensboro, NC, DoshaMora Sims, Demanunese Sims and DemorShea Sims of Goldsboro, NC; eight grandchildren Andriyah Atkins, Jeremiah Atkins, Atienna Heath, JaiDariyan Atkins, Amiyah Sims, ZyRionna Sims, Amoni Crawford and Jeron Sims; one brother James Wesley Howell of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters and brothers in law Evangelist Sarah (George) Peele, Evelyn (Foy) Coley, Rev. Marshal (Jackie) Williams, Rev Terry (Teresa) Williams, Elder Lamont (Jackie) Williams, Nelson (Wilma) Williams and Arabella Williams; a host of relatives and friends.
