Christine Best Hardy was born on April 22, 1935 in Wayne County to the late Viola Carraway and Sylvanus Best and departed this life on January 5, 2017 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC.
Christine Best Hardy was one of 14 children. She received her education in the public schools of Lenoir County where she graduated in May 1955. On July 29, 1966 she became the lovely wife of the late Willie Earl Hardy. Although Christine and Willie Earl had no children, her love for children was shared with two very-close relatives Demarkeus (Leon) Gray, and Calvin Hicks.
Later in life, Christine accepted Christ as her Savior and became a member of Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church of La Grange where she served under the leadership of Pastor Harold Warren prior to relocation to the City of New York where she was gainfully employed before retiring to North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Christine is preceded in death by three sisters Aurgie Lee Hicks, Tincie Mae Dawson and Orline Gray and six brothers James Best, Leonard Best, Theodore Best, William Henry Best, Elbert K. Best and Thelbert Ray Best.
To cherish in memory, Christine leaves two brother Sylvanus Jr. (Dollie) of Raleigh, NC and Richard (Janice) of Goldsboro, NC and two sisters Lillie Mae Isler (John) and Shirley Mae Kittrell (La Fayette) both of La Grange, NC; four sisters-in-law Eva Best of LaGrange, NC, Melba Best of La Grange, NC; Frances Best of Ladysmith, VA and Beulah Best of Boston, Mass., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
