Claudia Phillips Johnson was born March 5, 1956 in Wayne County, Goldsboro, North Carolina to Andrew Phillips and Marian DeVaughn. She departed this earthly life on September 2, 2021. Claudia grew up in the Eastern part of Goldsboro where she gained many loving and supporting friends along with family.
Claudia was a loving, observant and private person. She loved life and was devoted and loving to her family and friends. She loved to laugh and had a generous heart. She believed in God and trusted in the power of prayer. She was a dedicated worker. She cared about the employees at McDonald’s, especially the high school graduates to make sure they received scholarships.
Claudia was a 1974 graduate of Goldsboro High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Elizabeth City State University in 1978. She was employed by McDonald’s Incorporated for forty-one years and graduated from Hamburger University. She was a McDonald’s Super-visor, and was a dedicated and competent employee. She influenced many employees’ lives. During her years of employment, she received many prestigious awards. She loved working for McDonald’s. Claudia was a member of New Stoney Hill Holy Church of Goldsboro and New Mount Oliver Baptist Church of Virginia.
Claudia was preceded in death by her parents: Andrew and Marian Phillips and her grandparents: Della Yelverton Phillips and Robert Phillips, Patrick DeVaughn, Helen Austin DeVaughn Moses and Charlie Moses, three sisters: Patricia Ellison, Sandra Phillips, and Barbara Blankenship, one brother: Jerry Jones.
Claudia is survived by the love of her life William Mines, 4 children: Kristen (Chris) Bell of Virginia, Everett Phillips of Georgia, Wendell Franklin and Sh`Keia Pauling of Virginia, Tere (Lovell) Edwards of Alabama, 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Chasity, Krystina, Christopher, Jr., Kymberli, Natalie, and Malcolm, and 5 great grandchildren. Anita (Richard) Harris, four brothers: Andrew (Jackie) Phillips, Mitchell Phillips, and Keith Phillips of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Harold Phillips of Raleigh, North Carolina, and a special sister, Marilyn Raynor of Goldsboro, North Carolina, two aunts: Bettie Jean Smith of Virginia and Thelma Holloway of North Carolina, two uncles: Charlie Moses and David Brown of Goldsboro, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
