Deacon Obie W. White peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on January 9, 2021. He was born to Will and Retha White on June 27, 1937 in Fountain, North Carolina. He moved from North Carolina in 1955 to Connecticut. He married the love of his life Betty E. White and to that union had four children. He retired from Carpenter Technology in 1986. He then returned to North Carolina in 1991. He was a member of The Lord’s Table.
Obie was a very skillful and handy person. He enjoyed landscaping, painting and detailing vehicles. He also enjoyed traveling and visiting loved ones. His favorite sport was baseball. At times he had a way to make you laugh. He loved to entertain relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Will and Retha White; his wife Betty E. White; one daughter Cynthia Gottschalck and one son Will White.
He leaves to treasure his memories two daughters Sheila Webb and Barbara White; three sisters Barbara Yates and Willery (Walter) Beasley of Connecticut and Brenda Langley of Virginia; five grandsons Arthur Sean White, David White, Kenneth White, William Gottschalck and Darius White; two granddaughters Karimah Gottschalck and Ciara Gardner; two great granddaughters and grandsons; one great great grandson and two great great granddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
