Dianne Bell Obituary

Dianne Durham Bell departed this life on January 25, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was born September 25, 1947 to the late John Jackson and Dorothy Durham of Wayne County, NC. She was cared for and raised by the late Lillie and Willie Sykes of Goldsboro, NC.

Dianne attended Wayne County Public Schools, graduating from Central High School in 1966. After graduation Dianne relocated to Brooklyn, NY for employment. She later returned to Wayne County, NC where she met and married her husband Chester Bell. Dianne was gainfully employed at Sylvania Company of Smithfield, NC for 7 years, and Burlington Industries of Mt. Olive, NC for 13 years.

Dianne was a faithful member of Millers Chapel Church, of Wayne County, serving as a devoted choir member under the leadership of the late Pastor McIntyre and the late Lester Jacobs. Dianne was a woman of faith and loved the Lord. She spent many years of her adult life in Brooklyn, NY with family friends. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. She had a beautiful laugh and was loved by all who knew her. She will truly be missed.

Dianne was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Durham, her father John Jackson, her adopted parents Lillie and Willie Sykes, her sisters Selena Whitfield, Gloria Jean Whitfield, and her brothers Bob Jackson, and Rickey Lee Brown.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband Chester Bell of Goldsboro; her son Jamell Bell (special daughter-in-law Akilah Corder) of Goldsboro; 3 grandchildren Emaj, Akiya, and Amaja Bell of Goldsboro; her brother Tommy Lee Tate of Goldsboro, 2 sisters Eleanor Roberts (Bae-Bae) of New York, and Annette Jackson of New Jersey; 6 sister-in-laws Helen Battle, Bonita White, Patricia Hamilton, Yvonne Sellers, Dorothy Smith, and Christine Black; 2 brother-in-laws, Jimmy Bell and Reggie Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
