Mr. James A. Thompson “Big Eye” peacefully departed this life, with his family surrounding him on March 17, 2017 at Vidant Health Center in Greenville, NC. James attended Wayne County Public Schools and graduated class of 1975.
James was born on August 17, 1955 in Goldsboro, NC. He was named after both Grandfathers. Known by many as “Big Eye” was loved by so many! He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, granddad, cousin that loved his family so dearly! His heart was bigger than "life"! He was truly a giver indeed to all. He would give his last. “If he got it, you got it!!” He was the peace maker of the family. If there was ever a problem his exact words would always be "Don't worry about it, let it go"! There were few that he’d listen to but he would always say “Helen is going to get me straight!” He was very big on family gatherings, cookouts, birthday parties, and didn't mind planning it. We know if he planned it, it was going to happen and we needed to be there! He would go and buy everything in the store! He also enjoyed cooking. He would always cook something and wanted everyone to taste it!" He also loved going out to eat with his family. “Big Eye” would always say "When we going out to eat?” If you knew him and knew him well, you should know that he loved his "Hot Balls" & “Blow Pops"! Our brother, uncle, dad, grandad, cousin, was truly our family "Back Bone"! Even though our chain has been broken, his memories will forever live on.
