Obituary

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of god, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

2 Corinthians 5:1

Johnny Lee Parker was born in Wayne County to the late James A. Parker Sr. and Clementine Edmundson Parker in Goldsboro, NC. January 21st, 1954. He departed this earthly life to eternal rest on may 31st, 2023.

Johnny attended Wayne County Public Schools, where he graduated from Goldsboro high school, class of 1972. Johnny later received a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering.

Johnny served in the United States army with an honorable discharge. He went on to in Ellerbe, NC teaching electronics engineering.

Johnny attended William Carter College School of theology, with studies in the old and new testament for many years. He knew the word inside and out. He always paid special tribute to his great instructor, Mr. Marvin Wiggins whom he loved and appreciated.

Johnny’s “John the Baptist”- like ministry led him to the streets where he ministered on different corners all about the Goldsboro area. The fond memories of this lead us to acknowledge the places of business he frequented throughout his ministry that took up special time with him: Bojangles, Hardee’s, taco bell, Sheetz, Popeye’s, & tommy’s mart, to name a few. He touched and affected many that will remember him this way.

Johnny was preceded in death by his loving parents: Pastor James A. Parker Sr. and Missionary Clementine Edmundson Parker, sisters: Myra Parker & Helen “Gold” Jones, and brother: Frederick E. Parker “Chubby”.
