Lee Doris Bennett answered the call of our heavenly father on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Willow Creek Rehabilitation Center, located in Goldsboro, NC.
Lee was born on June 1, 1944 to Ms. Johnsie Bennett, in Baltimore, MD. After moving to Goldsboro, she received her formal education in the Wayne County Public Schools, graduating from Dillard High School. After graduation from high school, Lee moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she began her career with the New York Telephone Company, now known as Verizon. After many successful years, Lee retired and returned to her beloved home and family.
Lee was a dedicated, loving and loyal family person. She called, visited and took excellent care of her mother until Ms. Johnsie passed. She loved and spoiled her younger brother, Reggie.
During her earlier years she loved to travel, cruising the Caribbean Islands, flying off to Paris and other destinations for vacations. No grass grew under her feet. She loved to shop and could shop, until she dropped!! She took full advantage of the cultural scene in Manhattan, NY, attending concerts, broadway productions and savoring the many restaurant cuisines. Lee was also an avid reader and would buy four or five books (romance novels) at a time. Before Lee’s health declined she enjoyed spending time with her friends, visiting, shopping, eating out and having good laughter and fellowship. Lee had a heart of gold, always concerned and looking out for others.
Lee was preceded in death by her mother, Johnsie Bennett. She leaves to cherish her memories: one beloved brother, Reginald Bennett of the home; special and devoted friends, Luveria Bright of Kinston, NC, Barbara Coley and Helen Melton, both of Goldsboro, NC; other family and friends.
During Lee’s latter years she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. To God be the Glory!
