Linda Cogdell-Davis, born September 3, 1948, in Four Oaks, North Carolina, to the late Cleo and Lula Mae Cogdell, peacefully passed away at her residence in Goldsboro, North Carolina, on Friday, March 22, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 75 years old.
Raised in Johnson and Wayne County, Linda was a proud graduate of Dillard High School, class of 1966. Known for her compassionate and nurturing spirit, she found joy in caring for children, fostering over 10 and adopting one. Linda dedicated 18 years of her life to Wayne Memorial Hospital before retiring.
A devoted member of Saint Mark Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Linda served as a deaconess until her health declined. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reverend Thurman Davis, and her brothers, Charles and Alexander Cogdell.
Linda is survived by her cherished daughter, Burnetta Barnes, and four sons: Brian (Shshauna) Thompson Sr., Albert (Lakishia) Bell, Christopher Bell, and Aquaveous Cogdell. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Burnie (Mia) Best, Douglas Best Jr., Na’tiana Barnes, Brian Thompson Jr., Justin Thompson, Imani George, Michael Bell, and Zariya Bell, as well as two great-grandchildren: Burnie Best Jr. and Amora Lee Best.
She is also survived by her brothers, Doniel (Dorothy) Cogdell and Curtis Cogdell, her bonus sister, Sandra Smith, and nieces and nephews: Lisa (Brad) Flowers, the late Deborah Cogdell, Tyrone (Avonya) Cogdell, and Demetris (Crystal) Cogdell, along with a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Linda will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering faith, and profound impact on all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished forever.

Family will gather at 103 Watergate Ct. Goldsboro, NC 27530 on Monday, April 1, 2024 to proceed to the service. Please arrive at the residence no later than 11:15 AM if planning to join the funeral procession.
