Lisimba Jelani Grant was born April 7, 1979 in Goldsboro, NC. He departed this life May 5 at Wayne UNC Health Care.
He attended Wayne Christian School, Goldsboro, NC and graduated in May 1997. Immediately after graduating from High School, he entered the United States Army in June 1997. He served his country from June 1997 to August 23, 2001 and received a honorable discharge.
Lisimba accepted the Lord at an early age under the leadership of his father, who was Pastor at Abundant Life Christian Center, which later became Word Faith Center under the leadership of Pastor William Phillip. He served as an usher and choir member, later he became a member of Greater Guiding Star United Holy Church where he served on the Male Chorus as long as his health would allow.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry James Grant.
Those left to celebrate and cherish his life; his mother, Joann Boyette Bizzell and his step-father, Larry Levi Bizzell, Goldsboro, NC; two sisters, Jamela Grant Davis, Goldsboro, NC; Barbara Victoria Grant, Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Larry Grant, Jr., Philadelphia, PA; his maternal grandmother, Minister Julia L. Boyette, Goldsboro, NC; two maternal aunts, two paternal aunts; one maternal uncle and five paternal uncles. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition, the family requests that all who come to celebrate the life of Lisimba please wear his favorite team colors; UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heels or Carolina Panthers.
