Lonnie Lee Russell was born July 24, 1933, to the late Isaiah and Martha Russell. He departed this life to eternal rest at Kitty Atkins on December 18, 2020.
Lonnie attended the Wayne County Schools. He retired from Wayco Hams of Goldsboro NC after many years of service. He met no strangers and treated all his family and friends kindly. Up until approximately a year ago, you could see Lonnie riding his bicycle daily. That was his favorite pastime.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Lillie Bell Reid Russell, a son, Rev. Ronald Hagans, a daughter, Barbara Gail Russell and a grandson, Terrance Walker.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Ronnie Russell (Patricia) of Fredericksburg VA, one daughter, Malissa Russell Dawson (Sylvester) of the home. A daughter-in-law, Judy Hagans of Goldsboro. One sister-in- law, Lillie Mae Reid of Goldsboro. Fifteen grandchildren, 3 of whom he reared – Decarlos “Andre” Russell, Megale Russell and Jeron Russell. Thirty-two great grandchildren and three great great great grand children. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and extended family members. Two special cousins, Winston Jones and Nellie Gray.
