Ms. Luevance Armwood Teachey was born to the late Almond and Hepsie Armwood in Sampson County on May 25, 1925. She attended Poplar Grove School. She retired from Textilease Corporation in 1984. She was a foster grandparent for Wages and Skill Creations of Goldsboro. She relocated from Faison to Mt. Olive, NC, where she was Trailblazer. Luevance was the first person on her street to have running water and electricity in her house. She was an entrepreneur and had several home base businesses. She loved to cook and feed others, whether they were her family or someone working on her house. She made the best collard greens, sweet potato biscuits, pork chop, rice, and gravy. Her love for her family was extraordinary! She would love on us, make us go outside and get our switch, whip us, and then feed us some good ole soul food. She also had an excellent throwing hand, and she had a mean backhand, too.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Gerald Teachey, Sr, and a daughter Gerald Olene Carmichael. She is survived by one sister, Evelyn (Pig) Armwood, and seven children, Carolyn (Cornilus) Lewis, Raymond Teachey, Deborah Artis, Terry (Dawn) Teachey, Willie Teachey, Anthony Teachey, and Carole (Zachary) Higgins. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a loving but stern Mom, granny, PooPoo, auntie, and sister. Her favorite saying was, “No aches and no pain.”
