Otavis Mckinnon was born to Teresa “T-Bone” Mckinnon and the late O’dell Thomas Sr. on May 9, 1988. He departed this life on March 31, 2026 .
Otavis affectionately known as “Black Tay from the J” loved to joke and make us all laugh. He was well known and loved in his community. He was educated in Wayne County Public Schools and attended Goldsboro High School. He was employed with Mt Olive Pickle Plant until his passing.
Otavis was preceded in death by his Grandfather James Fields, father O’Dell Thomas Sr., Brother Odell Thomas Jr and Uncle Masonic Harvey.
Otavis leaves to cherish his memories; mother, Teresa “T-bone” Mckinnon; son, Otavis Mckinnon Jr; bonus children Otasia Dyson, Asia Dyson and Shavaya Williams; Brothers, Gerquon Brewington, Dequonta Mckinnon, Montenez King, Quatwon King, Antonio Kornegay, Ty’rell Kornegay, Ty’kell Kornegay, Gerald Meadows, Mike Jackson, Deonte Buckner and Kevin Barksdale; Sisters, Bridgette (Michael ) Mckinney and Gail (Rolando) Rivera ; Grandfather, Vernon Harvey; loving girlfriend, Shameka Williams and beloved mother of his child, Persette Dyson; and an ocean of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
