Ralph Burden, Jr. “Junebug” was peacefully granted his angel wings on Friday, November 4, 2022 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC with his loving wife and family at his bedside. He was born to the late Ralph Burden, Sr. and the late Marie Simmons Burden on December 19, 1961.
He was a 1980 graduate of Goldsboro High School. He was employed as a brick mason apprentice with R.N. Rouse Company, a Wayne County Correctional Officer, worked at O’Berry Center, NOVA Group Home, an Over the Road Truck Driver, a truck driver of Covenant and Pate Dawson Companies, as well as a lawn care technician with Coz Lawn Service.
Ralph grew up as a member of St. Joseph F.W.B. Church on Claridge Nursery Road. Later in life, he serves as the Pastor’s Armor Bearer, Trustee, Usher, and a member of the male chorus and choir. He loved singing his testimony “GOD’s Grace!”
He was also preceded in death by his brother Glenwood Earl Burden, Sr.
Junebug’s loving and precious memories will be cherished by his wife Turwanda R. Burden; daughters Sharonda Burden of Greensboro, NC and Taiylor Morgan of Greenville, NC; one son Lonnie (Jaikeria) Atkinson of Goldsboro, NC; grandchildren Elijah of Greensboro, NC. Amoni, Jiah’on, and Rhylee of Goldsboro; sisters H. Diane (William) Thornton of Durham, NC, Pam Burden Adams, P. Gail (Frederick) Burden Ruffin; brother Anthony “Tony” Burden all of Goldsboro; sisters in law Debra (Jerome) Garris of VA and Sharon (Donnell Artis of Goldsboro; brothers in law Donnell (Sandra) Jones of Maryland and Andre’ (Angela) Applewhite of D.C.; one aunt Helen Burden Simmons; one uncle Herbert Hoover Braswell; a very special nephew Kash O. Jones of Goldsboro; his second family the late Robert Lee and Annie Mae Cox; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and church family.
