Renner Petty Jr. Obituary

Technical Sergeant Renner Petty Jr., known to family and friends as “Ren” and “Jr,” was a native of North Carolina and resident of Virginia. Ren was born on March 17, 1973 to Renner Petty Sr. and Estelle Baldwin Petty. He transitioned from this life to eternity on October 13, 2021.

Ren was a loving son, husband, brother, father, and friend. He was loved by all who knew him. He would always do and say things to make others laugh…like laugh out loud. He was extremely gifted. He would often write poems or use his artistic talent to create works of art. Ren loved all things sports and was an avid Tar Heels and Alabama fan. He was proud of the gap in his teeth, and he would flash those pearly whites with a wide smile…a fond memory of the family.

His love for people led him to enlist in the U. S. Air Force to serve his country. Ren was a highly decorated Airman who received many awards and accolades during his 20-year military career. He was a great mentor to not only his subordinates but also to his peers. Ren served multiple tours during his career. He became a subject matter expert in all positions held and because of this, was often called upon by his leaders. Along with the many tasks and responsibilities assigned to him, he was also education focused. He eventually received a degree in Construction Technology as well as many other certifications and diplomas. Technical Sergeant Renner Petty Jr. retired from the U. S. Air Force on April 1, 2021 with an honorable discharge.

Preceding him in death was his sister, Elder Angela Renee Petty Sauls, a daughter, Tomeka Petty and brother-in-law, Calvin Earl Wright Sr.

Left to cherish his loving memories is his wife Sherrika Petty, daughter, Kylie Petty, son, Renner Petty lll, parents, Renner Petty Sr. and Estelle Baldwin Petty, two sisters, Chantel Petty (Larry) Lewis and Felicia Petty , three Aunts, Pauline Petty Dawkins, Katherine Petty, and Delois Baldwin Campbell, father-in-law, Samuel Rankin, mother-in-law, Helen Rankin, three brothers-in-law, Reginald Sauls, Dennis Rankin and Douglas Rankin, two sisters-in-law, Ladoria Rankin Wright and Melinda Rankin; with a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends and family.
