Robert Henderson Herring better known as Hint was born on February 29, 1928 in Goldsboro, NC. He would laugh and say I was born in a “leap” year and I only have a birthday every four years .

Robert was born to the late Robert and Martha Herring. He departed this life on October 14, 2016 at Willow Creek Nursing Home. He was the second born of seven children. He attended Wayne County Public Schools.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Bonnie G. Artis Herring, and his second wife Mozelle Jennette Herring, one daughter Wanda K. Herring Ford, three sisters Smithy L. Alsop, Carniece Devaughn  and Ethel B. Herring, and two brothers, Joseph Ardell Herring and   William Herring. 

He leaves to cherish his memory , two daughters Beverly L. Bell, and Andrea M. Wooten both Goldsboro, NC; two sons Larry Thigpen of  Tampa, Florida and Tyrone Wilson of Durham, NC. Two stepdaughters Evelyn G. Alston of Goldsboro and Pamela Harper of Atlanta, GA; step granddaughter Tomeika Jennette, whom he and Mozelle raised; other grandchildren Kotana Bell, Gene Alton Ford Jr., Tiffany M. Ford, Antoinette Wooten, April Wooten, Dexter Ellis III, DeAndre Pope, Malik Pope, Tyrik Pope; great grandchildren Deiontae Bell, Joslynn Sutton, Lila Bell Wooten, Landon Wooten, Adrian Wooten, Gary McKinney; one sister Martha A. Herring of Goldsboro, NC and a host of beloved nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.

Robert was a member of St. Mark Church of Faro, NC where he was an usher, as long as his health lasted. He was a retiree from Georgia Pacific Corp, where he worked for many years.
