Rose Mary Jacobs Sherard was born on August 8, 1954 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the late Hugh Loron and Lila Barnes Jacobs. Rose Mary was the fifth of nine children.

Rose Mary was a 1972 graduate of Goldsboro High School. After graduation she was employed by Burlington Industries where she met and married the love of her life, Thedwood “Rudy” Sherard Jr. in 1983. To this union were born two children, Ashley and Parker Sherard. Later she was employed by Cooper Bussmann, from which she retired in 2013. Rose Mary was affectionately called “Curly” by her family and friends. This was a name given to her during childhood due to her curly black locks and doll-like eyelashes. Curly was a “Baker Extraordinaire”. “Curly’s Confections” provided delicious desserts for family and friends.

Curly attended The Word Warehouse where she was an active member. She served on the praise team and was a devout intercessor. Her unwavering faith served as inspiration to many. Despite the trials that came her way she would proudly declare that she was “standing on HIS Promises”. Curly had a warm and loving personality which was felt by anyone she encountered. She will be long remembered for her contagious laugh and beautiful spirit.

Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Lila Jacobs; a brother Ralph Barnes Sr., and a sister Brenda Kaye Reid.

Rose Mary leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband of 33 years, Rudy Sherard Jr.; three children, Ashley Sherard of Atlanta, GA, Parker Sherard (fiancée Nikita Stephens) of Goldsboro, NC, and Temonio (John) Anderson of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren Jalen and Jade Anderson. Two sisters, Sallie Lewis and Linda (Marvin) Bowman of Goldsboro, NC. Four brothers, Hugh (June) Jacobs of Harrisburg, NC, Dennis (Ravonda) Jacobs, of Goldsboro, NC, Chester (Oreta) Jacobs, of San Diego, Ca. and Michael Jacobs of Goldsboro, NC.  Four sisters-in-law Betty Barnes of Dudley, NC, Sonia Marrow of Hampton, Va., Charmeiko (Ricardo) Kellman of Newport News, Va., and Jennifer Sherard of Harlem, NY. Three brothers-in-law, Reginald (Donna) Brown, of Hinesville, Ga., Tony (Patricia) Humphrey, of Centerville, Va., and Kevin (Seng) Sherard of Greensboro, NC.  Mother-in-law, Florice (Charles) Lane of Dudley, NC, and father-in-law, Thedwood (Mamie) Sherard Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
