Sandra Kay Strickland, (also known as “Doll Baby”) was born on January 4, 1959 in Goldsboro North Carolina to Mr. Peter Strickland, Jr. and the late Pastor Ernestine Mitchell-Strickland. Sandra was the second child of seven children.

Sandra was a 1977 graduate of Goldsboro High School. After completing high school, Sandra secured employment with Oak Manner Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant. After faithfully serving for many years, Sandra relocated to Lumber Bridge, NC to assist her parents. While helping her parents, she also was employed with    Ryder Truck. Later, she relocated back to Goldsboro, NC while still employed with Ryder Truck Rental. Sandra wanted more in life and understood the importance of an education. She enrolled at Wayne Community College and successfully graduated with an Associate Degree in Health and Human Services. After completing college, she was employed by O’Berry Neuro-Medical Center where she achieved a promotion as a Group Home Supervisor.

“Doll Baby” was preceded in death by her grandmother,Cora McGowan-Mitchell; her mother, Pastor Ernestine Strickland;and her sister, Mrs. Cynthia Hines.

Sandra Strickland is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Tanyetta Strickland- Sutton and husband, Kenneth of Cary, NC; her father, Peter Strickland, Jr. of Lumber Bridge, NC; her sisters,Sharlene McRae and husband, Daniel of Hephzibah, Georgia; Bernadine Pride of Goldsboro, NC, and Sandra Cox of Goldsboro, NC; two brothers, James Ray Strickland of Lumber Bridge, NC; and Antonio Strickland of Maxton, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, faithful family members, church members, other relatives and friends.
