Vivian Moore Obituary

Obituary

Vivian Annette Moore was born on June 19, 1937 in Goldsboro, NC to Artnie
Bell Bryant and James Cornelius Williams Sr. She shed her earthly shackles to
return home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2022.
Vivian was the 2 nd eldest of four children: brother James Cornelius Williams
Jr., sisters Addie Mae Murphy and Wellie Mae Spivey that she now joins in
heaven.
Vivian graduated High School in Faison, NC in 1956. She moved to Brooklyn,
NY where she attended nursing school. There she had two sons, Derrick
Moore and Julian Moore. Vivian was a woman of faith who raised her children
in the church, loved to sing in the choir and served in numerous church
auxiliaries.
Due to Vivian’s talent for acting and dramatic reading she was often called
upon to render dramatic readings for church celebrations. In addition, she
wrote and acted in several off-Broadway productions during the 1960s and
1970s.
Vivian’s love for her family knew no boundaries. In 1979 she returned to
Goldsboro, NC where she adopted and raised two nieces and one nephew,
while caring for another nephew, Raheem Spivey, from age 4 to age 8; bringing
them all up in the church and continuing her walk of faith.
Vivian’s house was welcoming. She was effervescent. On Sunday’s her
house was the house that everyone flocked to. She was fun to be around and
fed everyone she could. She was an avid collector of all genres of music and
often hosted family gatherings where she would enter a room, announce her
presence and proclaim, “before me there was none and after me there shall be
no more”.
Vivian moved to Jersey City, NJ in 2005 where she enjoyed her retirement
years.
Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her five children: Derrick Moore,
Julian (Nakita) Moore, Artnie Denise Murphy, Diedra (Cedric Sr.) Hickey,
Derrick Avan Murphy; Ten grandchildren: Tiquan Murphy, Shadia (Tyre Sr.)

Moore-Glover, Julian Amir Moore, Cedric Hickey Jr, Aanika Smalls, Tamara
Smalls, Deshawn Hickey, Tatiana Hickey, Ashley Johnson and DeAndrew
Kelly-Moore and 2 great-grandchildren: Tyre Glover Jr and Khalid Glover. In
addition, she leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends to carry on
her legacy.
