Zeno Phillips “pops” peacefully gained his angel wings on January 1, 2023, at his home in Smithfield, NC surrounded by his loving wife, Lorraine A Phillips. He was born to the late Carrie Adell Phillips and the late Herman Sutton.
Zeno was born in La Grange, NC and later moved to Delaware. He attended Delaware Public Schools. He then later ended his schooling to help with the care and needs of his siblings. He went on to work as a truck driver for Premium Mountnaire Trucking Company, Gateway, and several other trucking companies.
Zeno attended church with his siblings at very young age. St. John AME Zion church became his church home. In his later years, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and decided to live for Him. When he wasn’t working, you could catch him cooking squash, detailing, and cleaning his SUV, listening to his gospel music, eating something sweet, spending time with his family or just simply smiling or laughing cause there was always something funny.
His wife, his siblings, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his heart, and he loved his family dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine A. Phillips; his siblings, Irene Atkins, Sarah White, Pastor Mary Hazel Thompson, Ethel Sutton Graham, Carrie Crippen (Charles), Marlyn Jones and Johnie West(Ralph), Brenda Spence, Lou Jones, Joseph Phillips, Joe Jones; his bonus sisters, Ruby and Della Newkirt; his children, Zeno Taylor Jr, Shellavene Lawson “Shell (Denise Lawson), Antonio Best, Christine Taylor, Sharon Doris McCraig, Lauvaghn Jones, Grace M. (Chirs) Johnson, Denise Jones, Irene Richards, Anthony Irving, Sharon Bryant, Sharon Phillips. He leaves to cherish his precious memories to all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives. A special thanks is given to the staff at Devine Destiny Adult Care, Hospice nurses, staff at Becky’s Log Cabin and nurses at Liberty Commons Rehabilitation Center for assisting in the care of Zeno Phillips.
